Former Gateway Drive-In on Grafton St.
« on: March 04, 2012, 06:52:06 AM »
Until very recently, there was an old rusted sign at approximately 1061 Grafton St, next to A P Fish Market, that said Gateway Drive-In.  Someone told me it was a drive-in movie theater, someone else said drive-in restaurant.  Anyone know for sure?  Any additional information from any Worcester old timers?  (I moved to Worcester in 1973 so it was before my time here.)  Thanks for the info.

No, not a movie drive in.  It was a Food Drive In/Restaurant like you would see on Happy Days.  You'd drive your car into a parking spot around the restaurant and the waitressess served you food on roller skates.  You would eat your food in your car.
