Genealogy Conference at WPL May 15 & 16, 2009
« on: April 09, 2009, 04:01:06 AM »
Worcester public Library is doing another weekend free genealogy conference for those of you close enough to attend.  All presenters are volunteers and will cover different skills, resources and ethnicities.  Last year Worcmik and I were asked to present this year.  A few days ago I consented to doing something on Worcester Irish and resources.  Hopefully Worcmik will present his research on the Tatnuck Burying Ground and the early irish in Worcester.  Go to the library's website just google Worcester Mass. library and you'll get a link.  I hope some of the board members will be there.  Perhaps afterwards we can go to the AOH Fiddler's Green for a "point".

I still have to call, email or visit the WPL to confirm. I need to give them a title and pick one of the available time slots. I am thinking the title will be Catholics in the Vital Records of Worcester to 1850. I would like to address how birth, death and marriage data were collected and how that effects research into immigrant ancestors.

"Baptisms for those with RC Worcester."
I don't understand this sentence. I have seen lots of earlier Baptisms.
I will be speaking on Tatnuck Cemetery, I guess they wanted that presentation and did not seem interested in letting me choose a topic.

Worcmik your talk on the Tatnuck Burying Ground is great and I'd want to hear it again.  Those folks were the pioneer irish who would have been nameless and forgotten if not for you and others.  We'll be talking back to back on Saturday my talk is something like things I've learned while doing research on the worcester irish.....hope you all like it.

I have been using birth records rather than Bapt.s. They are in Latin for the years I have looked at, but Fr. Fitton did not record in Latin so his ought to be easier to use.
